I saw a John Pike water color painting once

All misty hues on green and blues

Crisp edge’d water color stains

Fixed in sere illusions

It was nebulous

His powders blunted caustic glitter

Softened sunlight shaded shimmer

Unfading forms in focused fumes

Sweet and pungent smoky memories of

A NASA space launch


On a piece of paper


I would have gone to visit him

As he had asked, except

By then I’d found he was

So famous

His Weather-vane they stole

In Woodstock

Was spotted by a Cop

In Florida

And shipped back to the Scot

In less than a week


Then finally when I became inspired

To go visit him

I wired

And was told that he
